iPhone data loss is very common for all of us. If the unfortunate happens, generally we will choose to recover from our backups on iCloud or iTunes. While to restore from backup, you should have backed up your iPhone before you have data loss. While in some cases, you may find the message that iTunes cannot backup iPhone.
How to fix the iTunes could not backup problem?
This problem is very rare when you back up your iPhone. If you find the error messages like “iTunes could not back up the iPhone because the iPhone could not saved on the computer” or “Session failed”, it will suggest you to reconnect your device and try again. But re-connection does not help. Then we have to try to fix it.
Ways to fix the cannot backup errors
First, you can update iTunes
If you cannot back up data to iTunes, you should check the version of your iTunes.. If there is a new version, you should update iTunes to its latest version. This will help if your device has an advanced iOS version that is not supported by the iTunes.
Second, you can rename your iTunes backup files
You cannot back up may due to the name conflict. So you can rename your old iTunes backups so that they will not conflict with new backup. For Windows users, you can find them in system drive : Username/AppData/Roaming/Apple Computer/MobileSync/Backup.
Third, delete the iTunes backup
You can make a copy of your existing iTunes backup to another drive. And delete them by manual, or you can delete them in iTunes by Edit>Preferences>Devices. After delete them, you can try to click “Back uo now” button.
Fourth, check the USB connection.
If your iPhone is not detected by iTunes, you cannot back up it. You can change a new USB cable to connect it, or insert the USB cable into different USB port on the computer.
Fifth, you can use iCloud account to back up your iPhone.
How to use iPhone recovery tools to restore data from iTunes backup?
As long as you have iTunes backup, you can use data recovery software to preview and extract data from it. You need to install H Data iPhone recovery software on the computer which you store your iTunes backup.

Choose the iTunes backup you need. The software displays the iTunes backups on your computer with device name, backup time and serial number. If these are not what you need, you can click “Browse for iTunes Backups” to select the backup by manual.

After scan, you can see all types of contents, preview them to find what you need.
Check the files you need and click “Export Selected Records” to extract the data you need.
