Contacts are one of the most important part on our iPhone and we need the phone numbers and emails to contact with others. Therefore, how can we back up contacts on iPhone and restore them after accidental loss? How can we extract and transfer the contacts from iPhone?
To solve the problems, we summarize several methods to extract contacts from iPhone.
First, extract contacts via email
iPhone allows you to share your contact cards with others via message, email or Airdrop.
Tap on the contacts that you want to extract and tap on “Share Contact”, then choose email icon to email this contacts to your email. Then you can enter into your email box and then save the attached files on your computer.
How to add email on iPhone?
Go to Settings and find “Mail, Contacts, Calendars”, choose it and tap on Add Account. Then you can choose the email type you want to add.
For example, if you want to add Gmail, you should chose Google icon and then enter your full email address, Name, password, click next. Turn on Contacts in the synchronization. Select Keep on My iPhone to sync contacts. All the new contacts from iPhone to your Gmail account will be placed in the All Contacts Group. Also, you can use it to sync your calendars and photos.
Second, back up contacts with Google Drive
You can use Google Drive to back up your contacts, photos, and calendars.
Connect your iPhone to Wi-Fi network and open Google Drive app on your iPhone.
Tap on the Options menu and tap on Settings>Backup>Start Backup.
In this way, it only back up your newly added data and will overwrite your previous backup. It only back up your contacts on iPhone, not on other apps.
Third, back up contacts to iCloud
You can choose to sync your iPhone with iCloud account. You just need to turn on iCloud backup to let it automatically sync iPhone with your iCloud. After backup, you can find all your contacts in the Contacts. Then you can choose to export the contacts from iCloud to your computer.
On your iCloud account, click Contacts to access to your contact address book.
Click the gear button at the bottom left and select “Select All” or “Export vCard” options. It will export your contacts in vCard file.
Fourth, back up contacts to iTunes
The iTunes does not allow you to separately back up your contacts. It will back up all the contents and settings on your iPhone.
Connect your iPhone with computer via an USB cable, and launch iTunes.
Click phone icon and then find the Back up Now” button. It will automatically back up your entire phone and the iTunes backup is stored on your hard drive.

Tick all the contacts that you want to extract and click to export them to your computer.
